Zubia Focuses On Water Security, Gains Endorsements From Experts

SCOTTSDALE - Scottsdale City Council candidate Raoul Zubia is sounding the alarm on Scottsdale's water challenges at a time when some Scottsdale City Council members seem out to lunch on the issue.

"This isn't a time to panic. But it is a time to get real about our situation and the costs on the horizon if we don't invest wisely. Advanced Water Purification in Scottsdale is the fastest way to fill that 20% CAP cut and any future losses with clean, affordable water. We must restore full funding for that program," said Zubia. "I’m alarmed by Councilmember Barry Graham’s vote against water recycling and his efforts to remove water infrastructure projects from the budget. We need long-term planning and thoughtful action, not political games."

Councilmember Barry Graham remains nonchalant about the water impacts and has echoed water recycling disinformation.

Meanwhile, Zubia just gained the endorsements of two Central Arizona Water District Board Members representing Maricopa County as well as former Executives from SRP. Zubia also penned an op-ed this week calling attention to the water woes plaguing the region, stating in the piece, "Our city already knows how to recycle water in a cost-effective, safe way. Our advanced treatment facility can handle over 20 million gallons a day. It’s actually reloaded over 70 billion gallons into regional aquifers for nearly 40 years. So why send Scottsdale taxpayer dollars to the coffers of private water sellers when we can invest those dollars in creating a drought-resistant water supply right here at home for substantially less? We should look at it this way: Every gallon of water we can recycle today is a gallon we do not have to buy from some outside water broker at tomorrow’s scarcity price."

ABOUT RAOUL ZUBIA:

Raoul Zubia is a lifelong resident of Scottsdale, a proud graduate of Coronado High School, and a candidate for Scottsdale City Council. Raoul is running to secure our water, defend our neighborhoods, protect our Preserve, and restore respect to City Council. Raoul believes that Scottsdale deserves leaders who listen, work together, and focus on results. He is deeply concerned about the Council’s direction. Councilmember Barry Graham’s vote to cut vital water resources and put political infighting ahead of solutions is not what Scottsdale deserves. Raoul knows that residents are tired of the drama and feeling unheard. They deserve leaders who listen and solve problems. He is ready to bring results-driven leadership back to City Hall.
