SCOTTSDALE - Scottsdale City Council candidate and longtime community volunteer Raoul Zubia will participate in the City of Scottsdale’s 25th anniversary commemoration of the September 11 terrorist attacks, joining community members in reading aloud the names of those who lost their lives.


The special Reading of the Names ceremony will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the West Bowl/Center Lawn at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.


“Twenty-five years later, we still remember the innocent lives that were taken, the families who were forever changed, and the first responders who demonstrated extraordinary courage that day,” Zubia said. “It is an honor to take part in this remembrance and to help ensure that the names and stories of those we lost are never forgotten.”


Scottsdale is commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with special exhibits at city libraries and at Scottsdale Police and Fire headquarters. Residents are encouraged to visit the exhibits and participate in the community’s Day of Remembrance. The public is invited to attend the Reading of the Names ceremony and is encouraged to bring water and a blanket.

Raoul Zubia is a lifelong resident of Scottsdale, a proud graduate of Coronado High School, and a candidate for Scottsdale City Council.
